In 1970, the United States had the world’s highest rate of high school graduation. Today, the U.S. ranks No. 21 in high school completion. Nationwide, 7,000 students drop out every school day, amounting to approximately 1.3 million students per year. Lack of parental and educational support and becoming a parent are two of the most common reasons students drop out of high school. UPI Education helps teens and young adults to stay in school return to school graduate high school and begin college or entry employment opportunities. We do so by training teachers and community volunteers to deliver to the students the UPI Life Skills Solutions™ programs. The programs insure that the student’s “life skills” don’t get overlooked. The programs help students to stay on-track and become productively active in school, at home and in society. Our current “Train-the-Trainer” goal is to train 1,000 teachers and community volunteers – which will result in the training of 100,000 to 175,000 students annually. Together, we can increase high school graduation and post-secondary education rates. 85% of UPI contributions go towards program cost, helping to put the sparkle back into the eyes of a deserving student.
