Founder and President
Mr. Crump grew up in New Haven, CT, where he participated as a (6th – 12th grade) student in the highly acclaimed Yale University, Ulysses S. Grant Foundation “after-school” program. A graduate of New Haven’s public schools, he captained his high school varsity basketball team to a State Championship, a number 2 National ranking and a place in the world famous Basketball Hall of Fame, Springfield, MA.
A Pre-Med graduate of Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a minor in Religion, Mr. Crump conducted an independent study of Ayurvedic medicine, while attending Mysore University, Mysore India. In making the decision to opt out of attending medical school, Mr. Crump, Co-Founded United Chem-Con Corporation, a Pennsylvania based manufacturing company, which grew to become one of America’s Top 100 Black-owned businesses (Black Enterprise Magazine).
Accepting the opportunity to become an international businessman, Mr. Crump lived in Asia more than 20 years. While in Bangkok, Thailand as a senior executive with an international British/American defense corporation, working with high-level executives, top military personnel and Presidents of foreign countries, Mr. Crump was responsible for corporate marketing activities in Pakistan, India, Thailand and Sri Lanka. Extensive business travel included Europe, Australia, Africa and the Middle East.
While in Singapore, Mr. Crump the Entrepreneur started a company conducting basketball training, with Reebok as his corporate sponsor. Over several years, more than 2,000 youth participated in training/games. Mr. Crump personally coached a Singapore high school team to a national title. As an Independent Distributor for Flori Roberts Cosmetics, Mr. Crump established the USA cosmetic line in Malaysia and Singapore. Thereafter, Mr. Crump started a telecoms company in Singapore, outsourcing telecoms engineers to Nokia, Ericsson, Motorola, Lucent Technologies and other international cellular/mobile suppliers.
Prior to starting UPI, Mr. Crump served as Executive Vice President, overseeing the day-to-day activities for “Amer-I-Can” the nationally recognized nonprofit organization founded by Jim Brown (former National Football League, Cleveland Browns running back) helping inner-city LA gang members and prison inmates.
